Veteran Reunion

I joined the Air Force in 2001 behind 9/11. I met many amazing people and one thing military folks share with each other is their life back home. For me, that included music and the band I was in love with at the time, Dispatch. I played them The General and obviously it hit really hard for all of us as false patriotism was rampant and it was a really confusing time as we tried to handle joining the military and doing the right thing as a human. They shared OAR with me as their favorite band from college. 20 years later the 3 of us reunited in Cleveland to scream The General at the top of our lungs into the warm night air as they shared the stage with OAR. Pure magic. Friendship. It isn't my favorite song by them. But it is tied to so much meaning for the 3 of us. Honestly, nothing compares to thinking about singing the "Go now you are forgiven" and thinking about our service and life together.
